With over 30 years of award-winning developments and $400,000,000 worth of urban improvements to his credit, Loren has earned a national reputation as a first-rate developer with a big heart. His Phoenix Development Company has truly done it all: from single- and multi-family housing to institutional housing, commercial real estate, and mixed-use development.

For over a dozen years, Loren has dedicated himself to developing affordable housing, emphasizing its use as a tool for reinvigorating neighborhoods. An innovator in the use of multi-source financing mechanisms, Loren knows how to layer resources to achieve community development and redevelopment goals.

Michael Buelow

Principal, Co-Director of Development, and Director of Construction

With over 35 years of construction, development, and project management experience, Michael is a LEED Accredited Professional who has established a track record for breathing new life into dilapidated properties. Specializing in rehabilitation and historic preservation, he never compromises on design or sustainable green building.

Operating through his own contracting company, Michael leaves no stone unturned in seeking out the best builders and subcontractors. A champion of capacity building for local enterprise, Michael involves himself in the communities he serves and maintains a face-to-face relationship with all of BB Housing’s builders and residents.

Michelle Olson

Director of Compliance

Michelle maintains compliance for BB Housing’s properties and ensures that they meet HUD program requirements. She is a stickler for details with 20 years of experience working in construction and development finance, originating both development and home loans in the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and Saint Paul, MN.

Michelle served on the board of directors for the Builders Association of the Twin Cities (BATC) for two full terms. She was instrumental in founding the association’s charitable arm as well as its Professional Women in Building Council.

Michelle holds associate degrees in social service (from Golden Valley Lutheran College) and banking (from the American Institute of Banking), as well as a certificate for Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) property management.
